Is it nearly “Sweater Weather?” (Yes!)

by Nina Butler 11 Oct 2023 0 Comments

After a Summer that felt like Autumn, and the start of Autumn feeling hot like Summer, I’m relieved to find the seasons settling back down into a regular pattern again.

Don’t get me wrong – I love a warm sunny day, but I find its more enjoyable when it’s 15 to 20 degrees with a nice breeze to blow the cobwebs away!

Key to dressing for the weather is to take a layered approach.  Light underlayers, a comfy knit and usually some kind of waterproof coat or jacket is all you really need to cover all eventualities that Mother Nature has in store for us!!

Our super soft fine knit “Yes” Jumper has been so popular already and is our first sell out of the season!  The bright colour pop of green is mood enhancing on even the greyest of days!  Its also green in more ways than one as it is an eco-designed item from our Planet Tortue range too!

Speaking of colour pops, poppy red is another vibrant shade which features in our knitwear range for Autumn and is a key “on trend” colour this season.  Our amazing poppy red fancy mix stitch jumper is the perfect combination of chic femininity and cosiness!   It’s a classic shape featuring a V neckline with pointelle stitch detailing at the neckline,  front and sleeves.  Being 50% wool, it will keep you cosy on cooler days layered with our fabulous jeans and boots or wear with our smarter trousers and relaxed blazer for a workwear look too!

For early Autumn sunshine days we love our Long Sleeve Breton Top cotton knit as the stripes of the knit have a nod back to summer holidays, sailing and crabbing in harbours in the sunshine, but the flower printed sleeves raise the game for a more casual-chic look with a twist.   Wear with denim shorts and flip flops on a sunny day or denim jeans and trainers for more inbetween days.  Its an eco designed item from our Planet Tortue range so good for the planet but also looks fab under a navy blazer with smarter jeans for a smart/casual work look too!

If you don’t like the constraints of wearing a jumper, our ribbed knit cardigan can be your perfect accessory to elevate your outfit.  With dropped shoulders, long sleeves and lapels with a 9% wool mix we think it’s the perfect thing for keeping you snug!  It feels super soft and the longline length makes it perfect for when you want to cosy up with a hot chocolate and a book infront of a log burner.   You can elevate the look for smarter chic by wearing over our monochrome dress with opaque tights and boots, add our double strap belt over the top of the cardigan and our relaxed casual blazer as an added outer layer for a smart/casual/chic lunch with the girls.  Alternatively try wearing it upside down and you will find that that the hemline finishes at the waist giving you a knitted collar/draped scarf effect which is handy for keeping you snug.

As well as “double denim” we love a bit of “double knitting” too (not sitting with a pair of knitting needles, a pattern and a ball of wool but layering a knitted jumper beneath a knitted cardigan).  Our leopard print jumper works perfectly with this cardigan as the colours blend beautifully for an elevated neutral look.   The leopard print is a bit fuzzier than a traditional leopard print, and more deconstructed across the shape of the knit.  It actually reminds me of when the magnolia trees lose all their petals in the Spring.   The ecru base to the knit has the print in shades of grey and slate blue.  This sophisticated and exclusive garment will bring elegance and style to any wardrobe with its dropped shoulders and a round neckline for a refined look with a metallic button adding a unique touch to one shoulder.    Fab with jeans and boots, or wear with our faux leather skirt, and the colours of this jumper will transcend seasons taking you right through and looking equally as fab in the Spring too!

Not everyone likes, suits or wants to wear bright colours, so for those who prefer more muted pastel shades, our flowers jumper could be just the thing!  Created from a soft fabric blend rather than wool, its great if you can’t wear wool or have sensitive skin.  This super soft knit gives you the ultimate comfort as well as style bringing a little luxury to your wardrobe.  The dropped shoulders and straight cut offer a relaxed fit whilst the round neckline and long sleeves keep you snug. This is an eco designed item from our Planet Tortue range and comes in a celadon (greyish/bluish) colour or a pink grapefruit colourway.   We love it layered with our cord trousers and jumbo cord overshirt for a relaxed casual look but its equally at home dressed up with smarter trousers and heels or dressed down with jeans and trainers.  A great “all rounder” that you will wear time and time again taking you right through Spring dressing too.

If you are hot one minute and chilly the next then a wrap or our cardigan scarf may be a better option to consider.  Both can easily be whipped off for a hot flush or slipped on again quickly (without ruining your hairstyle or accidentally getting your make up over the neckline)!

Our checked poncho wrap is luxurious comfort, softness and lightness.  Part of our Scandi Range it fully embraces the “hygge” lifestyle – think warm cosy log burners, hot chocolate (or a glass or red wine if that’s your thing), sleeping dogs at your feet who are worn out from their walks and a good book!    The intricate jacquard checks and fringed detailing feature on this generously sized 150cm x 140cm lovely snug wrap.

Our cardigan scarf is a real treat!  This cashmere and wool mix fabric is pure luxurious indulgence.  Super warm and comfy during any season it also makes a great gift too.  It can be worn literally as an over size scarf draped around the neck, or slip your arms through the openings to wear it poncho style for superior warmth and comfort.  It’s a timeless classic that will never go out of style and the ideal gift for that “hard to buy for” person on your gifting list!  We recommend ordering this one sooner rather than later if considering buying this as a Christmas gift as we anticipate it being on lots of letters to Santa and selling out very quickly!

You can find your favourite piece online at or book a personal styling session (online or in person) with your local Style Consultant who can help you find your favourites whilst showing you the intricate details, you can touch and feel the fabrics and try before you buy

I’m off to get a hot chocolate!
