Blog Post – Traitors Revisited!

It has been a long wait and a busy Summer behind the scenes on a myriad of fronts BUT I can finally reveal that not only is our new collection coming very soon but the BBC have announced that the new series of Celebrity Traitors filmed in the Summer will be hitting our TV Screens from 1st October airing at 8pm on Thursday and Friday evenings!

I am soooo excited I could burst!

If you watched the original series of Celebrity Traitors you would not have been alone as I read somewhere that 1 in 4 adults in the UK watched the show and at its peak during the final episode there were 12 million viewers!!! Wow!

Already I am wondering who Claudia will pick as her Traitors.  Would she pick Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan or is that too obvious?  Would she pick one of them to secretly be a Traitor to the other? … or is that too obvious too??

Who will be the first celebrity out and what will all the conspiracy theories and alliances be between the celebrities???

If it is anything as good as the last series I can’t wait – not just for the game play but for the fashion!  Sinead McKeefry who is Claudia Winkleman’s Stylist is supreme and I am sure we can expect more of those Claudia trademark “gothic style” looks in classic British heritage fabrics.

This Autumn the “heritage” fashion trend is back!   Think tweeds, kilts, checks, chunky knits and no doubt Claudia will be rocking some statement sleeves beneath those burgundy and chocolate brown outfits in the social media teasers for the show out and about in the wilds of Scotland!

With this in mind, I thought you may like to revisit our Traitors Inspired Shoot from last Autumn where we took a team to the fabulous Camelot Castle Hotel in Tintagel, Cornwall.

The day of our photo shoot was a pretty miserable weather day so the opportunity to shoot outside was extremely limited but we managed about 5 minutes of photos in the wind and rain at the end of the shoot with the dramatic backdrop of King Arthurs Tintagel Castle islet in the background (home to the legend of the knights of the round table and Merlin the wizard).

Inside the hotel we set up for photos by one of the granite fireplaces, the beautiful oak stairway and the giant carved wooden round table itself, aiming to recreate some of Claudia’s classic poses but with outfits from our Tortue collection instead.

We had so much fun and caused quite a stir in amongst all of the hotel’s Christmas decorations!  They are known for their incredible displays that take weeks to assemble!

Whilst these pieces are no longer available on our website, many of our team hold sample pieces from previous collections on their rails at their home boutiques and may be able to source for you if you fancy rocking your own Traitors look with a Tortue twist!

A lot has changed since last year, but one thing that is consistent is that with Tortue you are “styled by someone who knows you!”.

We have had a few changes to our Team in a very busy Summer for us behind the scenes, so thought it would be good to (re)introduce ourselves by regions over the next few blogs to help you to get to know us a little better and this time it’s the team in North England and the Midlands.

Ruth Sweeten- Dewhurst is our Stylist based in the beautiful Ribble Valley in Lancashire.  She loves helping women to discover just how good they can feel when they find clothes that are right for them.

With 16 years of styling experience a lot of Ruth’s Clients have become friends along the way.

She runs her home boutique and Style Studio alongside hosting pop up shops at venues as well as homes travelling throughout the North of England.

Ruth is petite at just 5ft tall and particularly loves styling petite ladies as she understands the challenges of finding clothes that fit and flatter a smaller frame.

Away from Tortue Ruth is mum to 3 almost grown up children and loves spending time with her family.   She loves interiors, and especially loves France, French language, French food and the culture and is a fluent French speaker and French language teacher too.    Not only that she also speaks Spanish and German!

Miranda Christopher is a Transformational Leader and Professional Style Coach based just North of Manchester in Chorley with a lifelong passion for style, colour and design.

Miranda believes that when you feel comfortable and confident in what you wear, it changes how you carry yourself and how you show up in the world.

Based at her private studio in Chorley, Miranda offers relaxed, one to one personal shopping sessions designed to help ladies choose clothes with confidence and look and feel fabulous In what they wear.

Rosemary Jennings and Louise Harrison from Kirk Ella in Hull have been brilliant Tortue “Superhosts” for a long time and we are delighted to say they are now full members of the Styling Team.

Rosemary is Mum to two teenagers, a dog lover, school leader and history teacher but above all she is a huge lover of fashion!  She is passionate about making women feel confident, fabulous and completely themselves through what they wear.

When  not thinking about fashion she enjoys travelling, discovering new places and catching up with family and friends finding joy in the little things, having fun and always making time to feel fabulous too!

Louise is born and bred in East Yorkshire!

Louise has always loved clothes and fashion calling herself “Mrs Add To Bag” and “Just Treat Yourself!”

A Nurse by trade and now an advanced clinical practitioner in a large trauma hospital, she is also Mum to two teenagers and dog Mum to her mad cocker spaniel!

Louise loves travelling, shopping and spending time with her family, especially over good food and wine.  She also loves cooking and baking too.

Amanda Litchfield is a long-term Tortue convert and genuine fashion and clothes lover from Market Overton in Rutland, right in the heart of the East Midlands.

Amanda has always had an eye for design, be it architecture, interior design or clothing.  Her passion is helping Mums to identify their style and boost their confidence by consciously shopping for flattering clothing that will be worn many times over.

Having stepped out of architecture to start her family, she now runs a home boarding dog business, alongside her styling business, allowing her to be present for her two daughters.   She loves a kitchen disco, dogs and a constant flow of visitors both 2 and 4 legged!!!

We are building more than a business.  We’re building a legacy of female entrepreneurship, friendship and style!

We can’t wait to introduce more of the team alongside the new seasonal looks that are on their way too.  Whilst we have had a few changes, one thing is for sure that will never change – timeless elegance, styled by someone who knows you.

So my parting question to you is “are you faithful to Tortue?”

(if so – then look out for our new collection launching soon in October)

…cue dramatic music, the sound of slowly stomping boots on a wooden floor and an air of mystery and intrigue!
