Pursue trusting relationships with our suppliers.
Our collections are created in Aix en Provence and manufactured with care. The workshops of our production partners are selected for their expertise and shared commitment to our approach on environmental matters as well as having an ethical and fair approach to their workforce.
We make sure to maintain lasting relationships with our suppliers. Nearly 85% of the products crafted in 2022 were made alongside partners with whom Captain Tortue has been working for more than 10 years. 100% of our partner workshops are audited by independent experts to ensure compliance with the code of ethics and working standards.
Provide quality clothing which lasts.
Our clothes are designed to be wearable for as long as possible. Our Style Team work hard to create timeless designs that last throughout the seasons and for many years giving you value for money too! We love to see our customers still wearing pieces from previous collections which will always blend into the new collections that we launch. Our aim is that you can build a capsule collection of clothing over time that is tailored to your own style and always up to date.
We carry out quality testing to ensure your garments will stand the test of time. These tests are carried out by our Head Office team as well as by independent Expert testing too!
Prioritise the use of eco-designed materials.
Today, more than 1 in 3 items in our collections feature in our Planet Tortue range which is made from eco responsible materials. Where possible we use materials such as organic cotton, linen, lyocell, eco-responsible viscose and recycled polyester. Our manufacturing processes use materials which have the lowest impact on the environment. You will not find fur, angora or uncertified mohair in our collections and we guarantee that our products are free of controversial chemicals such as alkylphenols, phthalates and fluorocarbons (PFCs).
Manufacture limited quantities.
We have always fought against over production of stock and we never send any surplus materials or garments to Landfill. We make our clothes in limited quantities, with some items being specially made to order as limited edition pieces in order to eliminate waste.
Use every piece of fabric.
We are followers of circularity and anti waste. Rather than throwing away or destroying any surplus fabrics, we use them to create a capsule collection each season to give a second life to these so called “forgotten fabrics” which feature in our highly desired re-use collections loved by our customers.
Reduce our packaging.
We aim to use as little packaging as possible in order to minimise wastage whilst ensuring your items arrive in tip top condition. Our polybags are made of recycled and recyclable materials.
