Blog Post – Hurrah – We Are Past The End Of The Month At Last! 

Why is it that January seems… to…. go….. on…… for…….. EVER?!?  I don’t know about you but after the highs of Christmas and New Year, the lows of the first few weeks of January are a bit of a come down to say the least!  Not only that but the weather has been awful – stormy, soggy and sometimes snowy and cold.   It feels like January has 60 days in the month rather than just 31! 

Our local supermarkets moved on from the Christmas celebrations super fast – the Cadburys Cream Eggs were out on 2nd January and Valentines Cards popped up shortly thereafter (I’m not ready to even contemplate either of those things yet)! 

The good news is that we have passed the shortest day now so those longer nights are slowly starting to get shorter, hopefully the worst of the weather is behind us and we will soon have some calmer sunnier warmer days to cheer us up with a natural shot of Vitamin D instead of having to take those Vitamin D supplements in the winter months. 

I know I’m ready for Spring and can’t wait for it to get here which is good news – because it has (well – for Tortue anyway) and we can’t wait to share it with you. 

So, what can you expect from the new collection? 

Blue Denim is in the spotlight as an ‘Essential’ this Spring and is the perfect easy to wear backdrop for all your chic, casual and timeless looks.  

The Denim Jumpsuit in Dark Blue has practical patch pockets and a sleek straight cut,  crafted from supersoft and flexible Lyocell and cotton, its part of our Planet Tortue eco fashion range.  The shirt collar style and small gathers at the shoulder yoke help with comfort along with the elasticated waist at the back of the suit.  Its easy to get into (and out of) with Italian style pockets to the front and a detachable belt with buckle if you want to nip the waist in a bit to fit.  

Iconic flare jeans are a real fashion asset.  You can wear them with heels to elongate the leg or wear with trainers for a more casual style.    Our Jane jeans are available in sizes 4 to 24 featuring the traditional 5 pockets style but with a touch of embroidery on those back pockets.  The metal button and front zip fastening draw the eye towards the gorgeous plaited denim waistband detailing.  Crafted from 99% cotton with 1% elastane for a comfort stretch to the material these jeans are part of our Planet Tortue eco range too! 

A bit of “Boho” style is still with us but this time in a more ‘Urban/ Bohemian spirit, with silhouettes that are reinventing themselves to become a bit more minimalist, a bit more chic whilst still being light and fluid so think of materials that scream comfort  and a little sophistication too.  

Crochet remains a strong trend but this season it is a bit more subtle, more refined and sophisticated to bring texture to elegant and modern pieces.   You will spot it in lightweight tops, paired with flowing dresses but also in little detailing too keeping the modern touch whilst acknowledging the unique craftsmanship behind the detail.  

Our Team are loving the Short Macrame Jacket which comes in a beige or khaki colourway.  With shiny mirrored buttons and openwork details, this piece plays on texture and chic!  It’s a bit like a denim jacket with patch pockets at the chest.  The sleeves are long with button cuffs and there is a straight cut to the jacket.  Crafted from 98% cotton it has a dash of elastane for a bit of stretch to be comfortable for you when you move and is part of our Planet Tortue Eco Range too!  

This gorgeous Polo Neck Jumper comes in a Poppy Red or Ecru colourway, giving a retro touch in a modern look.   It’s so versatile looking equally fabulous when dressed down  with jeans as it does when dressed up with smarter trousers.   Crafted from 84% fine knitted cotton in fancy detailing with long sleeves and a straight cut, it comes in sizes 6 to 24 and is another piece from our Planet Tortue Eco range.  

The fashion of this Spring is characterised by a search for comfort without compromising on elegance.  The lines are simple, the cuts are modern, but the materials are the real stars of the season!  We have chosen light and fluid fabrics that allow you to move with ease for natural chic relaxed elegance with a modern twist on  femininity. 

This 100% Cotton Gauze Blouse in Red or Denim Blue colourway is soft and light to wear, with macrame details adding a romantic and delicate touch.  The long sleeves are slightly puffed for a bit of drama to offset the macramé inlays with a small slit at the bottom of the hem for a comfortable fit to this straight cut blouse. 

If you want to turn the drama up another notch, add a dose of glamour going full on tropical with this Crossed Shirt in Sky Blue, crafted from 100% cotton and featuring orange sequin palm tree motifs.    Perfect for day or evening, this cotton poplin shirt has a contrasting blue ribbon stripe detail to the side seams too!  It’s a very loose fit so if you prefer a more fitted style then we suggest you take a size below your usual.    It also comes in a crisp white option with white sequin motif and orange side stripes for a bit of added sunshine! 

And finally – that long missed sun I mentioned!  The return of Solar Chic!  Think of the  colours that represent the sunnier times, mediterranean blues to ochre shades, natural and a little bit illuminous too!  These shades are the trend of this Spring and not just for holiday time either!  Incorporate these happy inducing shades into your city or work wardrobes for a little radiance at any time of the day.
