Fit (ish) - Natural Beauty
(our favourite walking spots – part 1)
With the summer and school holidays on the horizon we are hopeful for some great weather to get out and about and enjoy the outdoors!
As a team we live in some beautiful places right across the UK and we are quite outdoorsy (ish) … well we are rather partial to a nice lunch out and the odd glass of fizz or a cocktail whilst sitting in the sunshine so surely that counts doesn’t it?
With staycations in mind, we asked the team to share some of their favourite walking spots to inspire you to get out and about!
Living in Cornwall in an official ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ means we are spoilt by so many beautiful places right on our doorstep! One of my favourite walks is a circular 2.5 mile walk around Trevose Head on the South West Coast Path especially in late Spring/early Summer when all the coastal plants are in flower as it is really pretty.
There are two National Trust car parks along the route so perfect if you are a National Trust member as it means you can park for free! The walk has stunning views over the North Cornwall Coast tracing the coastline around the headland from Constantine Bay to Trevone – in fact you can see 5 beaches (near and far) quite clearly with my favourite being Mother Iveys Bay where the water is tropical turquoise and the base for the iconic Padstow Life Boat. My dogs love this walk and it’s a dog friendly beach all year round so great to let them off the lead for a run and a splash in the water – also great for a quick dip in the sea for a swim yourself. The best time of day to walk the path is early evening so that you get to see the setting sun against the lighthouse and sometimes you get to see the lifeboat launch down the ramp at Mother Ivey’s Bay with a big splash on their weekly training exercises too!
My favourite sunny day dog walking outfit is our super soft Denim Shorts, trainers, Macrame Aqua (denim blue) coloured Top with Openwork Macrame Knit (and if its warm enough then I may just have my swimsuit on underneath if the sea is calm and looks inviting enough)!
I love the jersey “T” shirt style back to the top for comfort with the “boho” style of the macrame. The openwork jumper is perfect to keep the chill off if it’s a bit breezy but still feels luxuriously stylish (incase of an impromptu coffee stop) with the delicate openwork creating unique little patterns in the knit. The ¾ sleeves are perfect for beach combing as they don’t dangle in the sand and the jumper can be worn back to front for a slash neck effect as an alternative to the v neck style. Part of the Planet Tortue range, the jumper also comes in a carbon colourway.
Amelia loves to walk in Tickenham, North Somerset with her dog Geoffrey on a 5k loop across the fields and public footpaths. Living on a farm, this walk gives Amelia the opportunity to check on the fields and livestock. This is a favourite walk as there is lots of wildlife to see. Amelia loves to spot the Kingfishers with their lovely bright colours – look for that quick flash of electric blue if you are near to water and see if you can spot one dashing and diving for little fish. For other walkers – well they get to see Amelia in her natural habitat in her bright colours too! Printed Playsuits are not just for pool holidays and beaches … you can rock a Printed Playsuit with a pair of wellies on a countryside walk just like Amelia! In fact, this a great look if you are going to any music festivals this summer – just add a denim or leather jacket for when the sun goes down and switch to cowboy style boots and a hat to rock the western style trend!
Alternatively escape to paradise by the beach with the same 100% viscose Playsuit as Amelia in this bright pink colourway or in a tropical green with palm tree patterns version. It’s the ideal outfit for warm weather as its designed to be light and comfortable and we LOVE the contrasting removable jacquard belt that looks fab worn with your favourite Tortue jeans and ultimately femine Macrame Shoulder T Shirt in Coral crafted from slub jersey style from a durable blend of cotton and polyester for a slightly linen effect look too!
Alison lives in beautiful Lanarkshire in Scotland. Walking her dog Winnie who is a 13 year old pug is mainly around her garden as Winnie doesn’t potter very far so no need for leisure wear or a change of outfit! Alison loves to wear the “go to” Eva Jeans, with our Ethnic Print Blouse and Tortue Wedge Sandals in Sand featuring gorgeous black stitched detailing, pretty macrame edging and faux leather black ankle straps with wide buckle details. The perfect outfit for enjoying the garden pre and post walk too! The blouse is super soft 100% breathable viscose and eco designed with a deep “V” neckline featuring a wide stripe in the middle for a bit of added style! The macrame strips at the shoulders and tie bottoms give an extra touch of sophistication making it the perfect outfit dressed up with a skirt or smarter trousers to wear for those summer garden party invites too!
Why not tell us about your favourite walking spots and share a photo of yourself in your Tortue outfit on our Tortue Facebook and Instagram pages? We love to hear from you and we may just try out one of your favourite walks too!
